The Galungan Festival is a national Balinese holiday for Hindus taking place over ten days which celebrates the victory of the God Dharma over Adharma, good against evil, and when the ancestral spirits are believed to visit the earth. The Festival commences on the 11th week of the 210 day Pawukon calendar and takes place twice a year.
During this period many sacred dance performances and rituals take place and pilgrims visit the local communities and temples. Offerings of flowers and food are made to the spirits to help maintain the Universe's natural balance. This is a series of an extended family preparing to celebrate the Festival together.
